The phenomenon of globalization affect the change for all countries in the world in international trade. The development of communication technology and transportation make the trade competition between countries became more competitive, not least in agriculture & fisheries (agribusiness). All the companies vying for the international market opportunities by getting support from the government of each country.
With today’s technological progress is very positive impact on trade in agricultural & fishery of Indonesia in international markets, this is indicated by the increase in foreign exchange from the agribusiness sector and the emergence and development of large-scale enterprises export by offering a variety of commodities.
Leading commodities such as Indonesia palm oil, rubber, seaweed, chocolate, coffee, copra, cardamom, pepper, nutmeg, cloves, betel nuts, patchouli oil, resin, gambier, copra, cinnamon, fish, ginger, fruits, fresh vegetables, and other commodities are still dominating the international market.
When we examine, some of these commodities are bought by companies overseas as raw materials for industry largely thrown back into the international markets, including Indonesia. We can imagine that if we do it alone without the whole export to foreign countries to produce their own materials or semi-finished so and throw the product to local and international markets with its own trademark which can automatically absorb the larger work and also have added value in itself, but it can not do an optimal because of the limitations of the technology we have today and the competition is getting tighter.
In addition to the above commodities turned out to have Indonesia’s commodities that are considered trash, but it has the potential export markets such as the skin of small crab (crab shell) are very interested in countries like Korea & China, but there are also coconut shell charcoal (coconut shell charcoal) from of burnt coconut shell, coconut coir (coco fiber or coco coir) fiber for industrial raw material is coconut coir coconut fiber which is a byproduct of the coconut trade for household consumption and industrial processing of copra or coconut oil. This raw material is generally found in abundance in coconut production centers, particularly in Aceh Province, North Sumatra, Riau, Lampung, West Java, Central Java, East Java, North Sulawesi, Central Sulawesi and South Sulawesi and East Nusa Tenggara and Maluku.
Due to market agricultural products, fishery and plantation Indonesia is extremely wide open international market then it’s time we expand to overseas markets or in other words, export activities in addition to getting a better price can also increase foreign exchange, open employment and the support from government and banking.
Maybe at first we were hesitant because of information that make trade between countries have a high risk factor primarily concerned about reforming payment and the complexity of the procedures that must be traveled, not to mention between the seller and the buyer did not know each other or have not met before (only through correspondence and via telephone conversations). But the actual conduct of inter-state trade or export is something that is not difficult and safe to do. For payment problems there are many options we can go that is safe for all parties is one of exporters to receive payment system in the form of L / C (Letter of Credit) or TT (Telegraphic Transfer), which we discussed in a separate chapter.
Indonesia has many natural resources that attracted many of the world and even some agricultural commodities, fisheries and plantation Indonesia almost without rival in the world. We take the example of cloves, one competitor is Indonesia Madagascar but we know that the world demand for these commodities continue to rise, almost all states require this commodity to meet the needs of both the cigarette factory, pharmasi either consumption or sold in retail or in the form of cooking. Not only clove, almost all agricultural commodities, fisheries and plantations will continue to increase every year as populations continue to rise in the number of the world and many of the establishment of manufacturing processing of agricultural products.
So we can draw the conclusion that the export opportunities in the field of agriculture, fisheries and plantations are wide open because:
- Natural Resources (SDA) Indonesia’s abundant raw material that is derived purely from within their own country.
- Requests from abroad for agricultural commodities, fisheries and large plantations.
- Agricultural commodities, fisheries and plantations dominated Indonesia many overseas markets.
- The existence of easiness and the government provided facilities for the export of agricultural, fisheries and plantations.
- Many establishment of manufacturing / fabrication, offshore processing of raw materials (raw material) into a mixture of fast-food materials or materials consumption.
- World prices remain stable and even tended to continue to rise.
