Successful and profitable business: There?

Today’s post is in relation to an email I received from a person who has visited my blog quite often and always has been eager to learn

The question he asked was whether there were successful businesses and business that was also profitable success …

I gave my answer via email, but found it very useful to share it here with all the hundreds of readers who visit my blog daily and have intention of knowing how successful businesses are

There is sufficient evidence that there are in the business world many industries and some of them much more profitable than others

In turn, within them, successful businesses that achieve remarkable results when others do not even come close

Why?

For me, there are at least 7 factors that make a Successful Business can be distinguished:

1) Successful Business: its owners have a very clear where they want to

The best example of this is when you are faced with the opposite, owners with a lot of money, no problems of investment and capital, but are badly ill-advised, may have the most money, but if they are unclear about where they want to get your business, is like driving a boat to nowhere.

Clearly, a drifting boat, can never belong to a Successful Business

Usually, they realize too late, the bad results they have, and very few have the energy and possibilities to improve when all this adverse

So the definition in the number 1) without a clear vision, better not start nothing!

2) Successful Business: its owners have achieved leadership that motivate, inspire and guide your organization

I have found in my working life, with so many business owners, general managers, which have many technical skills but so few in the communication and especially in its people, making water when guiding their organization especially in difficult times

They are the typical companies that fill their advisers, as if they were the ones who are going to solve everything

Many times the problem is within them. Perhaps the best recommendation is to invest in training them to improve many skills to develop and learn techniques … Nobody was born knowing it all, but if you have the ability to learn and when they do not know what … Basic questions!

So if you want to invest in Successful Business … YOU!

3) Successful Business: Generally, every day the tendency is to have very low fixed costs

Always come out the comment, but I know a friend, a company that fixed costs are high and are Successful Business … My comment is: it is obvious that there will be examples of those, but I will talk about trends in today’s not yesterday

Example: Every time there are more people working from their homes and have achieved outstanding success in business terms of income and capital invested

Same case as people who work online. You must understand that having low overhead costs, you become less risky compared to the fluctuations of Economic you are more flexible to react and address your Business in the direction you want

If you want to play an important variable that makes you Successful Business … Fixed costs low!

4) Successful Business: goals and results based on the productivity of people

This issue if that is good. The old school, which our parents had to do for 40 years was, the famous clock in every day at work, schedule and play a certain number of hours per week. That is, clearly measured by quantity …

Today, the concept is quality considering the number of hours … that is, how productive you are in a period of time

And productivity is measured in results that many successful businesses as measured in terms of sales, margin, customer retention, depth-of-Sale customer base, etc.

Here people do not like to waste their time and are 100% focused and organized are the kings … they manage their time, achieve results within their companies and excel on many … Why?

Because they focus on the urgent and Important … Productivity pure!

5) Successful Business: very flexible company, able to react to market changes

No more those white elephants huge corporate buildings, one said, as funding achieves all this enormous bunker … I imagine the amount of wasted resources in terms of living expenses every month

Today companies are more lightweight and flexible, working with executives smartphones connected to the Internet 24 hours, working with notebooks or Netbooks favoring connectivity and free movement of its personnel

And also have instances within the company, where they accept suggestions on how to improve day by day, so have gone certifications as Six Sigma, which seek to streamline the processes so as to greatly reduce failure rates of products and processes with the only to improve productivity

A company that is able to listen to their employees on how to do a better job, clearly is in the process of becoming a successful business within

6) Successful Business: provide value-added product. No more commodities in general the only differentiating variable is the price

This element is key. every time you’re in the market with 40 brands of the same product in the supermarket and so in various industries

Which do you choose?

If your market is price, you think everything your teacher day deliveries to the market as a result of lower costs … but please do not even think you’ll have lower costs and better quality unless you incorporate some technology that you have the patent or something like

As the case of SMEs, small and medium enterprises do not possess such technologies, every day is my suggestion to find a niche where you can have a company with low cost and so allow me to offer a better quality product, where you can better retain customers for service, value added product and where privilege themselves long-term consumption

So, many companies have chosen to Differentiate … all based on a great book called Jack Truot: Differentiate or Die!

And it’s basically the concept in an era where every day more products abound, think because a client must provide your own vs. the competition

7) Successful Business: well-defined focus to the segment of people arriving. They understand that not all consumers are served, nor can not offer all products …

Personally I love to compete with companies that seem to supermarkets, create their own products, like any you find in any store, with zero value added … apparently never read the book Positioning by Al Ries and Trout: You can not be good at everything in the consumer emnte!

They offer everything, if a customer does not have a thing, come and tell you I offer this one …

And am so sad to see its vendors, walk with a catalog full of private label products with the illusion that the market people will understand that they have the best products of all categories provided … fools!

Mind you, this last point, please understand the meaning of what I say, I do not go out with the example of the supermarket, which has many products … where what they sell is more financiemiento space and place!

Classic example: Coca Cola in the world is a tremendous brand … well made the terrible mistake in Chile to Coca Cola brand clothing, here those who think dijiero marketing guru, Coca Cola brand is sure to have tremendous success …
